On December 20, 2025, the 9th National Symposium on Lithium-Sulfur Batteries was successfully held in Conference Room 422 of the Engineering Physics Building at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The symposium was jointly sponsored by the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University and the Frontier Interdisciplinary Science Institute at Beijing Institute of Technology, organized by the Intelligent Solid-State Battery Innovation Center, and co-organized by the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the editorial department of the Journal of Energy Chemistry, and the Energy Particle Materials Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Particulate Science. Renowned experts, researchers, and technical scholars from the lithium-sulfur battery field both domestically and internationally gathered to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge scientific issues and engineering application challenges related to lithium-sulfur batteries. Themed "High-quality Development of Lithium-Sulfur Batteries", this conference focuses on the construction of high-capacity, high-reversibility sulfur cathodes in metal-sulfur-based battery systems, the design of metal anodes with high coulombic efficiency and high interfacial stability, the research progress of high-conductivity, low-consumption electrolytes and solid electrolytes, as well as metal-sulfur-based battery devices and assembly technologies that combine high safety, high weight/volume energy density, and long lifespan characteristics. At the same time, the conference also extensively discusses the technological innovation and engineering applications of metal-sulfur-based batteries in emerging application scenarios.
